Time Entries Duration Rounding

With the recent changes to California Labor Laws, some changes to shifts duration calculation have been introduced in the GAM for work performed in California. Outside of California, the GAM calculation still considers the closest 15 minutes.


In this article, we will be covering the California related changes, which is mainly the removal of time rounding on Tsheets based time entries, which can be noticed in the invoice page as in the screenshot below:



NOTE: All time in Tsheets is being accurately captured when agents clock in/out in the app, down to the second.


In the screenshot above, we can notice that the start time is 09:33 and the end time is 13:56. That amounts to a total of 4 hours and 23 minutes.


Due system design constraints, the duration value displayed on screen is only 2 decimal points deep, as you may notice in the screenshot above the duration is displayed as 4.38. However, when calculating the duration, the systems considers 4 decimal points, so in this case, 4.3833.


For work performed outside of California, the rounding remains the same, being calculated to the nearest quarter of an hour, as in the screenshot below:
